Problem

Two vectors are given as A⃗=2 i^+3 j^−6 k^\vec A = 2\,\hat i + 3\,\hat j - 6\,\hat k and B⃗=−4 i^+3 j^+2 k^\vec B = -4\,\hat i + 3\,\hat j + 2\,\hat k. Answer the following: a. (i) Find the vector R⃗=A⃗+B⃗\vec R = \vec A + \vec B. b. (ii) Determine the magnitude ∣R⃗∣|\vec R|. c. (iii) Calculate the unit vector directed along R⃗\vec R and express your answer with a rationalised denominator, if any. d. (iv) Verify explicitly that the magnitude of the unit vector obtained in part (iii) is exactly one.
