Problem

- Suppose an object has thickness dudu so that it extends from object distance uu to u+duu + du. Prove that the thickness dvdv of its image is given by (−v2u2)du\left(-\frac{v^2}{u^2}\right) du, so the longitudinal magnification dvdu=−m2\frac{dv}{du} = -m^2, where mm is the lateral magnification.
