Problem

An isolated thin rigid spherical shell has mass MM and radius RR. If the shell is set spinning slowly, with angular momentum JJ, show that inertial frames within the shell rotate with angular velocity ω=2GJc2R3.\omega = \frac{2GJ}{c^2 R^3}. Comment briefly on how this result is related to Mach's principle.
