Problem

Example 37: What is the highest order spectrum which may be seen with light of wavelength 5×10−5 cm5 \times 10^{-5} \mathrm{~cm} by means of a grating with 3000 lines per centimetres. Calculate the wavelengths in the visible spectrum (3.5×10−5 cm−7.0×10−5 cm)\left(3.5 \times 10^{-5} \mathrm{~cm}-7.0 \times 10^{-5} \mathrm{~cm}\right) which coincide with the fifth spectrum of this light.
