Problem

Suppose that T∈L(V)T \in \mathcal{L}(V) is self-adjoint or that F=C\mathbf{F} = \mathbf{C} and T∈L(V)T \in \mathcal{L}(V) is normal. Prove that ∥T∥=max⁡{∣λ∣:λ is an eigenvalue of T}.\|T\| = \max\{|\lambda| : \lambda \text{ is an eigenvalue of } T\}.
