Problem

A scooter and its rider together have a mass of 150 kg150\,\text{kg}. While moving on a straight road the scooter attains a speed of 60 km h−160\,\text{km\,h}^{-1}. a. (a) Calculate their kinetic energy in kilojoules. b. (b) If the kinetic energy has to be 18 kJ18\,\text{kJ} with the same total mass, determine the speed (in m s−1\text{m\,s}^{-1}) the scooter must attain.
