Problem

a) For SU(N)\mathrm{SU}(N), we have N⊗N=AA⊕SS,(70.37)\mathrm{N}\otimes\mathrm{N} = \mathcal{A}_{\mathrm{A}} \oplus \mathcal{S}_{\mathrm{S}}, \tag{70.37} where A\mathcal{A} corresponds to a field with two antisymmetric fundamental SU(N)\mathrm{SU}(N) indices, φij=−φji\varphi_{ij} = -\varphi_{ji}, and S\mathcal{S} corresponds to a field with two symmetric fundamental SU(N)\mathrm{SU}(N) indices, φij=+φji\varphi_{ij} = +\varphi_{ji}. Compute D(A)D(\mathcal{A}) and D(S)D(\mathcal{S}). b) By considering an SU(2)\mathrm{SU}(2) subgroup of SU(N)\mathrm{SU}(N), compute T(A)T(\mathcal{A}) and T(S)T(\mathcal{S}). c) For SU(3)\mathrm{SU}(3), show that A=3ˉ\mathcal{A} = \bar{3}. d) By considering an SU(3)\mathrm{SU}(3) subgroup of SU(N)\mathrm{SU}(N), compute A(A)A(\mathcal{A}) and A(S)A(\mathcal{S}).
