A simple pendulum is set up in the school laboratory.
a. (i) Write the mathematical relation connecting the time period T, the length L of the pendulum and the acceleration due to gravity g.
b. (ii) Rearrange the expression obtained in part (i) to make L the subject of the formula.
c. (iii) Explain why the numerical value of L calculated from the expression in part (ii) must be written in metres when T is in seconds and g is in ms−2.
d. (iv) If a pendulum shows a time period of 1.80s at a place where g=9.80ms−2, calculate its length to two significant figures.
