Physics — Statistical Mechanics · heteronuclear-diatomic-fundamental-equation

Problem

A particular heteronuclear diatomic gas has one vibrational mode, of frequency ω\omega, and its characteristic rotational energy parameter is ε\varepsilon (equation 16.28). Assume no intermolecular forces, so that the gas is ideal. Calculate its full fundamental equation in the temperature region in which T≫ε/kBT \gg \varepsilon/k_B but T≈ℏω/kBT \approx \hbar\omega/k_B.
