Problem

Let XX be a continuous random variable with values in [0,2][0, 2] and density fXf_X. Find the moment generating function g(t)g(t) for XX if (a) fX(x)=1/2f_X(x) = 1/2. (b) fX(x)=(1/2)xf_X(x) = (1/2)x. (c) fX(x)=1−(1/2)xf_X(x) = 1 - (1/2)x. (d) fX(x)=∣1−x∣f_X(x) = |1 - x|. (e) fX(x)=(3/8)x2f_X(x) = (3/8)x^2. Hint: Use the integral definition, as in Examples 10.15 and 10.16.
