Problem

In the weak-field, Newtonian, limit of general relativity, we may choose coordinates such that gμν=ημν+hμνg_{\mu\nu} = \eta_{\mu\nu} + h_{\mu\nu}, where ∣hμν∣≪1|h_{\mu\nu}| \ll 1, and we assume that all particle velocities are small compared with cc. By considering the equation of geodesic deviation, show that the general-relativistic tidal force reduces to the Newtonian limit given in Exercise 7.23.
