Problem

Let XX be a continuous random variable with values in [0,∞)[0, \infty) and density fXf_X. Find the moment generating functions for XX if (a) fX(x)=2e−2xf_X(x) = 2e^{-2x}. (b) fX(x)=e−2x+(1/2)e−xf_X(x) = e^{-2x} + (1/2)e^{-x}. (c) fX(x)=4xe−2xf_X(x) = 4xe^{-2x}. (d) fX(x)=λ(λx)n−1e−λx/(n−1)!f_X(x) = \lambda(\lambda x)^{n-1} e^{-\lambda x}/(n-1)!.
