Problem

A skateboard of mass 2 kg2\,\text{kg} is initially at rest on a horizontal track. A horizontal force acts on it as follows: • 0 s0\,\text{s} to 1 s1\,\text{s} : 12 N12\,\text{N} (constant) • 1 s1\,\text{s} to 3 s3\,\text{s} : 6 N6\,\text{N} (constant) • 3 s3\,\text{s} to 5 s5\,\text{s} : 0 N0\,\text{N} Neglect friction and answer the questions. a. (i) Calculate the velocity of the skateboard at the end of each of the three time intervals. b. (ii) Determine the power delivered by the force at the instants t=0.5 st = 0.5\,\text{s}, t=2 st = 2\,\text{s} and t=4 st = 4\,\text{s}. c. (iii) Find the average power developed during the first 3 s3\,\text{s}.
