Problem

Suppose S⊂RS \subset \mathbb{R}, and f:S→Rf : S \to \mathbb{R} is an increasing function. Prove: a) If cc is a cluster point of S∩(c,∞)S \cap (c, \infty), then lim⁡x→c+f(x)<∞\displaystyle\lim_{x \to c^+} f(x) < \infty. b) If cc is a cluster point of S∩(−∞,c)S \cap (-\infty, c) and lim⁡x→c−f(x)=∞\displaystyle\lim_{x \to c^-} f(x) = \infty, then S⊂(−∞,c)S \subset (-\infty, c).
