Problem

For every real xx, let h(x)=⌊2x⌋−2⌊x⌋h(x)=\lfloor 2x\rfloor-2\lfloor x\rfloor. a. (i) Show that 0≤h(x)≤10\le h(x)\le 1 for all real xx. b. (ii) Prove that h(x)h(x) can take only the two values 00 and 11, and no other real number. c. (iii) Find all real numbers xx for which h(x)=0h(x)=0 and all xx for which h(x)=1h(x)=1. d. (iv) Hence write the range of hh and comment on its discreteness.
