Problem

Suppose T∈L(P5(R))T \in \mathcal{L}(\mathcal{P}_5(\mathbf{R})) and null⁡T′=span⁡(φ)\operatorname{null} T' = \operatorname{span}(\varphi), where φ\varphi is the linear functional on P5(R)\mathcal{P}_5(\mathbf{R}) defined by φ(p)=p(8)\varphi(p) = p(8). Prove that range⁡T={p∈P5(R):p(8)=0}.\operatorname{range} T = \{p \in \mathcal{P}_5(\mathbf{R}) : p(8) = 0\}.
