Problem

The set of separating hyperplanes. Suppose that CC and DD are disjoint subsets of Rn\mathbf{R}^n. Consider the set of (a,b)∈Rn+1(a, b) \in \mathbf{R}^{n+1} for which aTx≤ba^T x \leq b for all x∈Cx \in C, and aTx≥ba^T x \geq b for all x∈Dx \in D. Show that this set is a convex cone (which is the singleton {0}\{0\} if there is no hyperplane that separates CC and DD).
