Problem

Let VV be a two-dimensional vector space over the field FF, and let B\mathfrak{B} be an ordered basis for VV. If TT is a linear operator on VV and [T]B=[abcd][T]_{\mathfrak{B}} = \begin{bmatrix} a & b \\ c & d \end{bmatrix} prove that T2−(a+d)T+(ad−bc)I=0T^2 - (a+d)T + (ad - bc)I = 0.
