Problem

Let zn=(1+i)nz_n = (1+i)^n for n=1,2,…n = 1, 2, \ldots. Show that the sequence {zn}\{z_n\} is a solution to the difference equation zn=2zn−1−2zn−2z_n = 2z_{n-1} - 2z_{n-2} for n≥3n \geq 3.
