Problem

A composite resistor is made by joining two materials. Section 1 is a cylinder of radius 2 mm2\,\text{mm} and length 10 cm10\,\text{cm} with resistivity ρ\rho. Section 2 is a cylinder of radius 1 mm1\,\text{mm} and length 10 cm10\,\text{cm} with resistivity 2ρ2\rho. They are joined in series (end-to-end). A voltage VV is applied across the combination. Compare the potential drop across Section 1 (V1V_{1}) versus Section 2 (V2V_{2}).
