Problem

Suppose {Vn}n=1∞\{V_n\}_{n=1}^\infty is a sequence of open sets in (X,d)(X,d) such that Vn+1⊃VnV_{n+1} \supset V_n for all nn. Let {xn}n=1∞\{x_n\}_{n=1}^\infty be a sequence such that xn∈Vn+1∖Vnx_n \in V_{n+1} \setminus V_n and suppose {xn}n=1∞\{x_n\}_{n=1}^\infty converges to p∈Xp \in X. Show that p∈∂Vp \in \partial V where V=⋃n=1∞VnV = \bigcup_{n=1}^\infty V_n.
