Problem

Let FF be a subfield of the field of complex numbers and let VV be any vector space over FF. Suppose that ff and gg are linear functionals on VV such that the function hh defined by h(α)=f(α)g(α)h(\alpha) = f(\alpha)g(\alpha) is also a linear functional on VV. Prove that either f=0f = 0 or g=0g = 0.
