Problem

Let f(x)=2x2−3x+1x2−9f(x)=\dfrac{2x^{2}-3x+1}{x^{2}-9}. Answer the following questions. a. (i) State the domain of f(x)f(x). b. (ii) Explain, without performing any calculations, why f′(x)f'(x) is not defined at x=±3x=\pm 3. c. (iii) Describe how the sign of the denominator near x=3x=3 influences the sign of f′(x)f'(x) in a left–hand neighbourhood and a right–hand neighbourhood of x=3x=3. Give a brief justification based on the algebraic form of the derivative.
