Problem

Air flows past a small wing of area 2.0 m22.0\,\text{m}^2. The speed of air over the upper surface is 60 m s−160\,\text{m}\,\text{s}^{-1} while that under the lower surface is 45 m s−145\,\text{m}\,\text{s}^{-1}. Take the density of air as 1.3 kg m−31.3\,\text{kg}\,\text{m}^{-3}. Calculate the magnitude of the upward force acting on the wing.
