Problem

A point charge qq is a distance a>Ra > R from the axis of an infinite solenoid (radius RR, nn turns per unit length, current II). Find the linear momentum and the angular momentum (with respect to the origin) in the fields. (Put qq on the xx axis, with the solenoid along zz; treat the solenoid as a nonconductor, so you don't need to worry about induced charges on its surface.) [Answer: p=(μ0qnIR2/2a) y^\mathbf{p} = (\mu_0 q n I R^2/2a)\,\hat{\mathbf{y}}; L=0\mathbf{L} = \mathbf{0}]
