Problem

The Hermitian operator A^\hat{A} corresponding to the observable AA has two eigenstates ∣a1⟩|a_1\rangle and ∣a2⟩|a_2\rangle with eigenvalues a1a_1 and a2a_2, respectively. Assume a1≠a2a_1 \neq a_2. Show that A^\hat{A} can be written in the form A^=a1∣a1⟩⟨a1∣+a2∣a2⟩⟨a2∣\hat{A} = a_1|a_1\rangle\langle a_1| + a_2|a_2\rangle\langle a_2| and that ⟨ψ∣A^∣ψ⟩=⟨A⟩\langle\psi|\hat{A}|\psi\rangle = \langle A\rangle
