Problem

Point charges q1=+6.0 μCq_{1}= +6.0\,\mu\text{C} at (4.0 cm, 0, 0)(4.0\,\text{cm},\,0,\,0) and q2=−2.0 μCq_{2}= -2.0\,\mu\text{C} at (0, 5.0 cm, 0)(0,\,5.0\,\text{cm},\,0) interact in vacuum. (a) Calculate the force F12\mathbf F_{12} experienced by q2q_{2} due to q1q_{1}. (b) Calculate the force F21\mathbf F_{21} experienced by q1q_{1} due to q2q_{2}. (c) Show explicitly from your numerical results that the two forces satisfy Newton’s third law of motion. (d) Comment on how the signs of the charges influence the directions of F12\mathbf F_{12} and F21\mathbf F_{21}.
