Problem

A particle PP of mass mm moves under the repulsive inverse cube field F=(mγ/r3)r^\boldsymbol{F} = (m\gamma/r^3)\hat{\boldsymbol{r}}. Initially PP is at a great distance from OO and is moving with speed VV towards OO along a straight line whose perpendicular distance from OO is pp. Find the equation satisfied by the apsidal distances. What is the distance of closest approach of PP to OO?
