Problem

Three resistors of 6 Ω6\,\Omega, 9 Ω9\,\Omega and 18 Ω18\,\Omega are connected such that the 6 Ω6\,\Omega and 9 Ω9\,\Omega resistors are in parallel, and this parallel arrangement is connected in series with the 18 Ω18\,\Omega resistor across a 36 V36\,\text{V} battery. a. (i) Draw a simplified circuit step by step to show how the network can be reduced to a single equivalent resistor. b. (ii) Calculate the equivalent resistance of the entire circuit. c. (iii) Determine the current supplied by the battery. d. (iv) Find the current through each of the 6 Ω6\,\Omega and 9 Ω9\,\Omega resistors. e. (v) Compute the electrical power dissipated in the 18 Ω18\,\Omega resistor.
