Problem

Let TT be the linear operator on C2C^2 defined by T(x1,x2)=(x1,0)T(x_1, x_2) = (x_1, 0). Let B\mathfrak{B} be the standard ordered basis for C2C^2 and let B′={α1,α2}\mathfrak{B}' = \{\alpha_1, \alpha_2\} be the ordered basis defined by α1=(1,i)\alpha_1 = (1, i), α2=(−i,2)\alpha_2 = (-i, 2). (a) What is the matrix of TT relative to the pair B\mathfrak{B}, B′\mathfrak{B}'? (b) What is the matrix of TT relative to the pair B′\mathfrak{B}', B\mathfrak{B}? (c) What is the matrix of TT in the ordered basis B′\mathfrak{B}'? (d) What is the matrix of TT in the ordered basis {α2,α1}\{\alpha_2, \alpha_1\}?
