Problem

Let GG be the internal direct product of subgroups HH and KK. Show that the map ϕ:G→H×K\phi : G \to H \times K defined by ϕ(g)=(h,k)\phi(g) = (h, k) for g=hkg = hk, where h∈Hh \in H and k∈Kk \in K, is one-to-one and onto. Hint. To show that ϕ\phi is one-to-one, let g1=h1k1g_1 = h_1k_1 and g2=h2k2g_2 = h_2k_2 and consider ϕ(g1)=ϕ(g2)\phi(g_1) = \phi(g_2).
