Problem

Suppose all cars on a (single-lane) highway are identical. Their length is l=4 ml=4 \mathrm{~m}, their wheels have coefficients of friction μ=0.7\mu=0.7, and they all travel at speed v0v_{0}. Find the v0v_{0} which maximizes the flow rate of cars (i.e. how many cars travel across an imaginary line per minute). Assume that they need to be able to stop in time if the car in front instantaneously stops. Disregard reaction time.
