Operators on Real Vector Spaces — Sheldon Axler

Mathematics — Linear Algebra · tensor-products

Problem

Suppose S∈L(V)S \in \mathcal{L}(V) and T∈L(W)T \in \mathcal{L}(W). Prove that there exists a unique operator on V⊗WV \otimes W that takes v⊗wv \otimes w to Sv⊗TwSv \otimes Tw for all v∈Vv \in V and w∈Ww \in W. In an abuse of notation, the operator on V⊗WV \otimes W given by this exercise is often called S⊗TS \otimes T.
