Problem

Calculate the magnetic pressure in the center of the umbra of a large sunspot. Assume that the magnetic field strength is 0.2 T. Compare your answer with a typical value of 2×104 N m−22 \times 10^4\ \text{N m}^{-2} for the gas pressure at the base of the photosphere.
