Problem

Let f(x)=4x3−6x+5f(x)=4x^{3}-6x+5. Answer the questions given below. a. (i) Find the indefinite integral ∫f(x) dx\displaystyle\int f(x)\,dx, indicating the constant of integration. b. (ii) Using your answer from part (i), evaluate the definite integral ∫−12f(x) dx\displaystyle\int_{-1}^{2} f(x)\,dx. c. (iii) Show explicitly in your working that the constant of integration does not influence the numerical value obtained in part (ii).
