Problem

Oxygen is a paramagnetic gas obeying Langevin's theory of paramagnetism. Its susceptibility per unit volume, at 293 K and at atmospheric pressure, is 1.80×10−61.80 \times 10^{-6} mks units. Determine its molecular magnetic moment and compare it with the Bohr magneton (which is very nearly equal to 9.27×10−249.27 \times 10^{-24} am2^2).
