Problem

A particle PP of mass mm moves under the central field F=−(mγ2/r5)r^\boldsymbol{F} = -(m\gamma^2/r^5)\hat{\boldsymbol{r}}, where γ\gamma is a positive constant. Initially PP is at a great distance from OO and is projected towards OO with speed 2γ/p2\sqrt{2}\gamma/p^2 along a line whose perpendicular distance from OO is pp. Show that the polar equation of the path of PP is given by r=p2coth⁡ ⁣(θ2).r = \frac{p}{\sqrt{2}}\coth\!\left(\frac{\theta}{\sqrt{2}}\right). Make a sketch of the path.
