Problem

Suppose VV is a finite-dimensional complex vector space and T∈L(V)T \in \mathcal{L}(V). Prove that TT is diagonalizable if and only if V=null⁡(T−λI)⊕range⁡(T−λI)V = \operatorname{null}(T - \lambda I) \oplus \operatorname{range}(T - \lambda I) for every λ∈C\lambda \in \mathbf{C}.
