Problem

Three resistors of 6 Ω6\,\Omega, 6 Ω6\,\Omega and 3 Ω3\,\Omega are connected in parallel across a cell of negligible internal resistance. (i) State any one characteristic of the potential difference across the branches of a parallel circuit. (ii) Calculate the equivalent resistance offered by the three resistors. (iii) If instead three identical resistors, each of resistance R ΩR\,\Omega, are connected in parallel, derive an expression for the equivalent resistance and comment on how it compares with the value of one individual resistor. b. Calculate the equivalent resistance offered by the three resistors 6 Ω6\,\Omega, 6 Ω6\,\Omega and 3 Ω3\,\Omega when connected in parallel. c. If three identical resistors, each of resistance R ΩR\,\Omega, are connected in parallel, derive an expression for their equivalent resistance and comment on how this value compares with RR.
