Triangle explanation based on complementary angles
In right–angled triangle PQR, ∠Q=90∘ and ∠P=θ. The side opposite ∠P is QR, the side adjacent to ∠P is PQ and the hypotenuse is PR.
a. (i) Write sin(90∘−θ) in terms of the sides of the triangle.
b. (ii) Write cosθ in terms of the same sides.
c. (iii) Explain, using the results of parts (i) and (ii), why sin(90∘−θ)=cosθ for every acute angle θ.
