Read the statements below and answer the questions that follow. a. (i) Explain in your own words why any plane electromagnetic wave described by E(x,t)=E0sin⁡(kx−ωt)E(x,t)=E_0\sin(kx-\omega t) must satisfy the condition ωk=1μ0ε0\dfrac{\omega}{k}=\dfrac{1}{\sqrt{\mu_{0}\varepsilon_{0}}} in free space. b. (ii) Describe qualitatively what would happen to the wavelength and frequency of the wave if it enters a dielectric medium with permittivity ε>ε0\varepsilon>\varepsilon_{0} while the source frequency remains unchanged. c. (iii) Define amplitude, wavelength and period for the electric field given above, and explain how each quantity can be identified directly from the mathematical form of the field.
