Problem

Define the function Y(N,γ,T)Y(N, \gamma, T) as Y(N,γ,T)=∫0∞Q(N,V,T)eγV dV.Y(N, \gamma, T) = \int_0^{\infty} Q(N, V, T) e^{\gamma V}\, dV. What physical meaning must be given to the parameter γ\gamma so that the function YY assumes some direct relevance to thermodynamics? Set up a scheme to derive the various thermodynamic quantities of a given physical system from the function YY, and illustrate it by considering a few simple examples.
