Problem

Consider a particle of mass mm which moves under the influence of gravity; the particle's Hamiltonian is H^=P^z2/(2m)−mgZ^\hat{H} = \hat{P}_z^2/(2m) - mg\hat{Z}, where gg is the acceleration due to gravity, g=9.8g = 9.8 m s−2^{-2}. (a) Calculate d⟨Z^⟩/dtd\langle \hat{Z} \rangle/dt, d⟨P^z⟩/dtd\langle \hat{P}_z \rangle/dt, d⟨H^⟩/dtd\langle \hat{H} \rangle/dt. (b) Solve the equation d⟨Z^⟩/dtd\langle \hat{Z} \rangle/dt and obtain ⟨Z^⟩(t)\langle \hat{Z} \rangle(t), such that ⟨Z^⟩(0)=h\langle \hat{Z} \rangle(0) = h and ⟨P^z⟩(0)=0\langle \hat{P}_z \rangle(0) = 0. Compare the result with the classical relation z(t)=−12gt2+hz(t) = -\frac{1}{2}gt^2 + h.
