Problem

A turntable rotates steadily at 33 13 rpm33\,\frac{1}{3}\,\text{rpm}. A small object is placed at a distance of 15 cm15\,\text{cm} from the centre on the turntable surface. a. (i) Express the angular speed of the turntable in rad s−1\text{rad}\,\text{s}^{-1}. b. (ii) Express the same angular speed in degrees per second. c. (iii) Calculate the linear speed of the object. d. (iv) If the rotation speed is instantly doubled to 66 23 rpm66\,\frac{2}{3}\,\text{rpm} while the object remains at the same radius, determine its new linear speed and state the factor by which the linear speed has changed.
