Problem

The Hipparcos satellite can measure the positions of stars to an accuracy of 0.001 arcseconds. If it is measuring the position of a star in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the Earth's orbit, do Hipparcos observers need to account for the gravitational bending of light by the Sun?
