Problem

Show that the Curie constant for an ensemble of NN spin-1 particles of mass mm and charge q=−eq = -e immersed in a uniform magnetic field B=Bk\mathbf{B} = B\mathbf{k} is given by C=2Nμ23kBC = \frac{2N\mu^2}{3k_B} where μ=geℏ/2mc\mu = ge\hbar/2mc. Compare this value for CC with that for an ensemble of spin-12\frac{1}{2} particles, as determined in Example 5.6.
