Problem

Extend Theorem 2.3.4 to unbounded sequences: Suppose that {xn}n=1∞\{x_n\}_{n=1}^\infty is a sequence. If lim sup⁡n→∞xn=∞\limsup_{n\to\infty} x_n = \infty, then prove that there exists a subsequence {xni}i=1∞\{x_{n_i}\}_{i=1}^\infty converging to ∞\infty. Then prove the same result for −∞-\infty, and then prove both statements for lim inf⁡\liminf.
