Problem

A student releases a steel ball from rest from the top of a vertical tower. Because of a reaction delay, the stopwatch is started 0.6 s0.6\,\text{s} after the ball is released. The stopwatch runs for 1.8 s1.8\,\text{s} until the ball strikes the ground. Take g=9.8 m s−2g = 9.8\,\text{m s}^{-2}. Calculate: a. (i) the total time for which the ball was actually in free fall b. (ii) the height of the tower
