Problem

Suppose T∈L(V)T \in \mathcal{L}(V) is such that null⁡Tdim⁡V−1≠null⁡Tdim⁡V\operatorname{null} T^{\dim V - 1} \neq \operatorname{null} T^{\dim V}. Prove that TT is nilpotent and that dim⁡null⁡Tk=k\dim \operatorname{null} T^k = k for every integer kk with 0≤k≤dim⁡V0 \leq k \leq \dim V.
