Problem

Properties of the matrices Γa\Gamma^a. Taking as your starting point the definitions (6.2.50a--e), derive the following properties of these matrices: ((i)) For every Γa\Gamma^a (except ΓS\Gamma^S) there exists a Γb\Gamma^b such that ΓaΓb=−ΓbΓa\Gamma^a\Gamma^b = -\Gamma^b\Gamma^a. ((ii)) For every pair Γa\Gamma^a, Γb\Gamma^b, (a≠b)(a \neq b) there exists a Γc≠1\Gamma^c \neq \mathbb{1} such that ΓaΓb=βΓc\Gamma^a\Gamma^b = \beta\Gamma^c with β=±1,±i\beta = \pm 1, \pm\mathrm{i}.
